Summary of Duties:
As a member of a cross-cultural team, the Retention Counselor for the Chicanx/Latinx Student Center is responsible for assisting the Office of Multicultural Student Services in carrying out its mission of facilitating "the best undergraduate experience for multicultural, first generation, and other underrepresented students through the provision of culturally relevant services to enhance their learning and development and foster their successful transition, persistence, achievement, and graduation" from Washington State University. While balancing the academic, cultural and social support for the students, the general responsibilities of this position include academic advising and coaching, mentoring, personal guidance and advocacy, serving as consultant to student leaders and student organizations, and collaborating with a wide variety of university offices and personnel to provide students with comprehensive services to engage them in the pursuit of academic excellence.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.
