    Description

    The Choice is seeking an immediate HR Generalist (contract) for our amazing client- a national coalition of mission-oriented foundations, thinktanks, and nonprofits.

    This role is crucial in supporting daily HR activities along with special projects. The HR Generalist is expected to work 25 hours per week and work a hybrid schedule (1-3 days a week in the office could be likely).

    This position is to support the organization during a high volume, busy season. The contract is anticipated at least through December 2024 and they will evaluate further throughout the year.

    The ideal candidate will have/will be:

    • At least 3-4 years of professional HR experience
    • Previous nonprofit HR experience strongly preferred. Previous experience fostering inclusive and equitable spaces is a must.
    • HR certifications would be a large plus, but not required
    • Strong collaborator, good communicator, and proactive

    Job duties will include:

    Recruitment

    • Supporting recruitment of open positions including job postings, scheduling interviews, developing interview questions, and other support functions
    • Provide staffing and hiring guidance to managers
    • Coordinate new hire onboarding, including processing, drafting offer letters, preparing orientation materials and ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed.
    • Create and maintain recruitment tracking spreadsheet.

    Performance Management

    • Lead the performance management timeline by sending timely reminders to managers and staff.
    • Ensure the collection and completion of performance documents and proper upload to the HRIS system.
    • Become proficient in “Share and Perform” to troubleshoot issues and support managers and staff throughout the review cycle.

    Payroll & Benefits & HR Administration

    • Assist payroll processing and ensure accurate and timely submission of payroll data.
    • Support benefits administration, including Open Enrollment, benefit updates, and employee communication.
    • Complete employee termination processing via the various platforms (I-solved, Principal, Unum, Smartbenefits, DC Health Link).
    • In collaboration with the Director of People and Culture, respond to employee concerns and inquiries, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.
    • Review monthly invoices for accuracy and reconcile any discrepancies with vendors.
    • Assist with day-to-day HR administrative tasks maintaining employee records and daily monitoring of HR mailbox.
    • Support staff meetings by helping with logistics coordination and the collection of materials.

    Employee Engagement and Wellness

    • Lead the organizing and coordinating of employee engagement and wellness activities and events.
    • Support the planning of the annual staff retreat and volunteer day.
    • Lead the engagement efforts around the organization’s core values.

    Additional

    Support special projects and other duties as assigned.
