    Children’s Center is seeking a Part-Time Finance Director. Reliable, consistent and user-friendly processes and systems are a key to the success of Children’s Center. The Finance Director will be responsible for developing and managing the organization’s financial and accounting activities, including financial statements, budgets, long-range forecasts and trends, and key performance measures; analyzes and interprets fiscal trends.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assists the Executive Director and Management Staff in the preparation of the annual budget.
    • Compiles budget material for all departments with appropriate backup information to support annual budget.
    • Ensures correct and timely account of all revenues and expenditures for accurate budget variance analysis. Responsible for recording all accounting transactions.
    • Develops and implements appropriate accounting policies and procedures to ensure proper internal controls, management reporting and financial accountability.
    • Works with the Executive Director and Office Manager on risk management and ensures liability insurance coverage is adequate.
    • Prepares and coordinates with external auditors for annual year-end audit and required tax filings.
    • Reviews monthly payroll preparation for accuracy, quarterly payroll tax filings and prepares monthly payroll journal entries.
    • Works with Development Department in reconciling donor database reporting to financial reporting on a monthly basis.
    • Prepares monthly and quarterly reimbursement submission requests and required reporting under County funding agreements.
    • Participates on the Leadership Team, Board Sustainability Committee, and Board of Directors meeting as required by the Executive Director.
    • Serves as liaison with contract providers, banking relationships and general insurance relationships.
    • Ensures financial contractual reporting requirements including public and private grants.
    • Prepares monthly financial statements for presentation to the Board of Directors. Provides monthly budget versus actual reporting to department directors.
    • Prepares all bank reconciliations and compiles credit card packet for bookkeeper.
    • Prepares 1099’s at end of year.
    • Monitors activity with book sales and royalty payments.
    • Reconciles medical payments, billing system to QB before approval of monthly invoice to billing company.
    • Prepares monthly and quarterly invoices for billing, development and others as requested.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    Responsible for ensuring the bookkeeper is performing the work they are contracted to perform. Works closely with the Medical Billing Team, Bookkeeper and Office Manager.

    General:

    • Discreetly handles confidential matters and is tactful and diplomatic in dealing with the public, Board members, donors, visitors, and other employees.
    • Collaborates with Executive Director to prioritize workload and ensure timely completion of tasks.
    • Maintains current and accurate filing systems.
    • Represents the mission, values, and programs of Children’s Center in all facets of the position.
    • Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
    • Respectfully takes direction from supervisor.
    • Maintains confidentiality.
    • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
    • Develops and maintains positive working relationships at all levels of the organization and with external partners to support our customer-centered, caring, and collaborative culture.
    • Performs other job duties assigned by Executive Director.

    What We Require:

    • A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required for this role and five to ten years of not-for-profit management and supervision experience or five to ten years of administration experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be used to satisfy these requirements.
    • Firm understanding of Generally accepted accounting principles and procedures.
    • Valid Driver’s License and Insurance Required. This role involves car travel to the bank. Access to vehicle, insurance, and ability to drive locally required.
    • The knowledge of accounting theory, principles and practices.
    • The ability to adjust to new situations, environments, and changing priorities.
    • The ability to analyze data, information, and situations to draw conclusions and make recommendations.
    • The ability to develop, manage, and monitor budgets, financial resources, and financial performance.
    • The ability to effectively convey information and ideas through written, verbal, and non-verbal means.
    • The ability to make informed and timely decisions based on available information and critical thinking.
    • The understanding of financial concepts and ability to analyze financial information.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related programs.
    • The proficiency in speaking, writing, and understanding multiple languages relevant to the job or industry.
    • Ability to organize and maintain an effective and efficient work environment.
    • The ability to analyze situations, identify problems, and develop and implement effective solutions.
    • The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
    • The ability to analyze situations and make decisions based on long-term goals and objectives.

    • This is a part time 0.5 FTE/20 hours per week in office position.
    • Our office is pet friendly with a facility dog working in the center daily.
