    SUMMARY:

    Massachusetts has ambitious carbon emissions reduction goals, and its ramping up clean energy activity, such as deployment of solar and offshore wind facilities, decarbonizing buildings and electrifying transportation, to reach them. A skilled clean energy workforce is needed, and vocational technical high schools play a central role in building this workforce to make Massachusetts’ goals a reality.

    Greater Lawrence Technical School is committed to expanding access to clean energy technical careers through launching a clean energy wage reimbursement program.The program will be established to connect new graduates from HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Landscaping, Carpentry and Automotive Technology with “green” contractors interested in hiring and mentoring new talent in the industry.

    GLTS’s wage reimbursement program will create opportunities for GLTS grads, and especially those from the environmental justice communities of Lawrence and Methuen, to be a part of the clean energy workforce of the future! We’re seeking a Clean Energy Employment Success Manager to establish and manage this exciting new program! The successful candidate will be equally comfortable building an employer ecosystem, matchmaking new grads to wage reimbursement jobs, and establishing a system to connect and support all stakeholders.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Build a strong network of clean energy employers, industry associations, and unions that are excited about the program, and are willing to consider recent GLTS grads for hire or connect GLTS with employers who are.
    • Design and establish a wage reimbursement application process and operations protocol that are effective and simple for both employers and GLTS graduates to navigate.
    • Brands the wage reimbursement program through a variety of communications media.
    • Market and promote Greater Lawrence Technical School and its graduates to employers.
    • Understand graduates’ career aspirations and challenges, and serves as a matchmaker to achieve job placements
    • Provides workshops and info sessions to both employers and GLTS high school and adult students about the wage reimbursement program to generate interest.
    • Work collaboratively with team members to facilitate placement of GLTS graduates into open positions.
    • Remain connected with graduates during wage reimbursement period to promote retention and communication of employment results.
    • Innovate new job placement and retention strategies to enact continuous improvement.
    • Communicates opportunities to enter the teaching profession to industry professionals.

    The Clean Energy Employment Success Manager will work year-round full time and will be eligible for GLTS benefits. The schedule will include two evenings a week during the school year. This position is grant funded for three years.
