    Job Summary:

    The Communications Director will define and promote the organization’s corporate identity and mission to the public, engaged stakeholders, members, and staff through the creation, distribution, and oversight of all public facing communications. This includes the AG Bell website, social media, electronic newsletters, and other documents and visual materials. The Communications Director will also be responsible for creating and maintaining marketing strategies that align with our mission and support initiatives.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

      • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains supervisory and management staff and consultants within the department.
      • Oversees the day-to-day workflow of the department leadership.
      • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
      • Duties and Responsibilities:
      • Oversees and produces, from concept to completion, a broad array of digital and/or print promotional and communication materials for the organization.
      • Ensures that all materials present a clear, unified, and positive image for the organization and/or brand.
      • Analyzes target market information to identify and recommend effective marketing approaches identifying new market segments.
      • Plans and oversees the preparation and distribution of original informational content such as articles, news and press releases, e-mail, blog and social media posts, video content, and other updates on behalf of the organization.
      • Oversees marketing-related tasks, including the development and execution of social media strategies and content, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals.
    • Leads or collaborates on the creation of strategic marketing and communications plans and strategies. Serves as a liaison across departments, working collaboratively with internal teams to understand their communication needs while ensuring that all messaging aligns with the organization's overall strategic communications and marketing goals.
      • Functions as a communications gatekeeper—balancing volume, timing, and content to prevent channel overload, maintaining consistent brand voice, and maximizing audience engagement.
      • Ensures that cross-departmental communications and promotional activities are coordinated, aligned, and mutually reinforcing rather than duplicative or conflicting.
      • Assists with development efforts, supporting donor and fundraising communications and ensuring they are strategically integrated into the organization’s overall messaging and outreach plans.
      • Promotes and attends special events and functions; promotes and reports on corporate milestones and activities such as company goals and projects; new products or services; community service activities; and new hires, promotions, and retirements.
      • Provides teams with analytical data and generates insights, including identifying trends and summarizing feedback for analysis, ultimately aiding in data-driven decision-making and improving team performance.
      • Collaborates with senior executives to develop future growth plans for the organization.
      • Arranges for photography and/or press coverage for special events.
      • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Education and Experience:

      • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
      • Four or more years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field is required.
      • Experience managing social media platforms and strategies, either directly or in a supervisory role, is preferred.
      • Related volunteer or paid experience working with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing and/or have disabilities is an asset.
