    Assistant Attorney General

    False Claims Division

    Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is looking for a highly motivated attorney to join her False Claims Division which investigates business conduct and brings enforcement actions against companies in diverse industries, including healthcare, technology, transportation, communications, and public construction. Cases require coordination with state, local, and federal authorities and involve matters of public interest and social justice, as well as challenging and complex enforcement initiatives.

    Primary Duties: The Assistant Attorney General (AAG) will be responsible for handling investigations into alleged violations of the Massachusetts False Claims Act, including reviewing referrals/complaints; initiating and conducting complex investigations, including negotiating with opposing counsel, conducting witness interviews, taking depositions, and reviewing written discovery; participating in settlement negotiations; and making recommendations on how to proceed. The AAG will also be responsible for assessing, investigating, and litigating sealed whistleblower, or qui tam, actions, some of which are filed on behalf of multiple government entities, and all of which require collaboration with the whistleblower and their attorney.

    Position Requirements: At least three years of litigation experience is preferred, including experience with depositions, court appearances, and written discovery. Applicants must possess effective oral and written communication skills, must exhibit good judgment, and must be motivated self-starters. Must be capable of handling complex and challenging matters and representing the Commonwealth effectively in court. Applicants should also have a significant interest in public service and working in a collaborative public-law environment. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a connection to the people and communities we serve and an interest in supporting a respectful, diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment. Must be a member of the Massachusetts bar.

    Position Type: Full-Time/Exempt. Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions.

    Salary: $84,134 to $125,572, commensurate with JD year.
