Position Description
The Energy Efficiency Manager supports the Division of Sustainability’s goal to increase energy and water efficiency and decrease waste and greenhouse gas emissions across Metro Government operations. As part of a small, collaborative team, this position designs and implements strategies that measurably advance this goal, with a focus on energy efficiency projects in commercial buildings.
This position oversees departmental implementation of and municipal-wide reporting on Metro’s Green Building Standards (Metro Code 2.32.070), which mandate energy efficiency improvements in existing city buildings and LEED Zero certification across a portion of the portfolio. The role manages Metro’s Energy Savings Revolving Fund, which implements strategic, high-ROI energy conservation measures in municipal facilities.
This position will coordinate with General Services divisions, other Metro departments, and contracted vendors towards achieving the city’s energy goals. Responsibilities include onsite evaluations and inspections, strategy development, project management, vendor management, data collection and analysis, and reporting.
The candidate must be a motivated and dynamic professional with excellent decision-making and interpersonal skills and the ability to independently manage concurrent projects. Flexibility, positivity, reliability, and a commitment to excellence are required.
Typical Duties
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in any technical field, including but not limited to: Engineering, Environmental Science, Building Science, or related field and five (5) years of professional experience with facility energy use and associated systems and technologies (e.g., HVAC, controls, lighting, envelope), and/ or energy efficiency/ energy conservation in buildings.
* Must receive a passing Metro Nashville Police Department background check**

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
