    Description

    Global Innovation Challenge

Tikkun Olam Makers (TOM) is a global movement of communities that creates and disseminates affordable solutions to neglected challenges of people living with disabilities, the elderly and the poor. TOM’s vision is a world in which technology and innovation allow every person access to affordable solutions for their needs. Our moonshot goal is to help 250 million people by inspiring and supporting a global network of communities dedicated to our vision.

TOM's Global Innovation Challenge (GIC) is a competition to design, engineer, and create technology that will help people live a more independent, fulfilling life. The purpose of the GIC is to create open-source, affordable solutions that will best solve a challenge faced by a person with a disability or their family.

Participants will receive mentorship from top engineers and designers in the fields of assistive technology and Innovation, and have a chance to win up to $3,000 in prizes.

Developing, Documenting, and Submitting your Project

    • All GIC projects must be documented on the TOM Global website using the Project Editor. The Project Editor will create a product file and a webpage which will be submitted for judging.
    • After registering for the GIC, each participant should open a profile on the TOM Global website and visit the participant resources page to learn how to develop and document their project.
    • Your documented project should be published and classified as a Prototype by May 1 to be considered for evaluation by the judges.
    • Your submission should include a 3-minute pitch video showing your development process, the functionality of your solution, and your solution being used by your Need-Knower.
