    Description

    About Us

At Sonic Connections, we help people thrive through music. Our mission is to integrate art and creativity with personal/professional development through immersive, experiential workshops. Hosted mainly on college campuses across the United States, we fuse the act of listening to music with ideas from applied psychology to equip people with skills that foster mental well-being.

Our current programs focus on supporting: students, faculty/staff, the LGBTQ+ community, and healthcare professionals. For more details, please visit our website.

    Role Summary

As we expand our operations, we are seeking a few seasoned Workshop Facilitators to lead our wellness and leadership programs at educational institutions across the West Coast, Pacific Northwest, and Southwest. This contract, part-time position is ideal for an individual with a flexible schedule who is passionate about delivering in-person experiences at the intersection of art and mental health.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    • Facilitating wellness workshops that integrate music and mindfulness to support people’s personal growth. (Important note: Technical musical proficiency is not required for this role. Our programs use pre-recorded music and do not involve instruments or live performance. Selected candidates will receive comprehensive training in our curriculum.)
    • Connecting with partners via brief pre-workshop video/phone calls to review event logistics, establish rapport, and ensure a familiar face arrives on campus.
    • Regularly traveling (1-5x / month) across California, Arizona, and neighboring states to lead our workshops.
    • Developing skills and workshop content through ongoing professional development with the team, refining facilitation best practices and ideating program changes based on participant feedback.

    Who Are You?

As a Sonic Connections Workshop Facilitator, it is likely you:

    • Have a deep appreciation for music and the arts, understanding their role in fostering connection, growth, and well-being.
    • Are a passionate self-development + mental health advocate eager to help others navigate their internal knots and obstacles, and feel energized about facilitating learning experiences for groups of people in public settings.
    • Maintain full control over your schedule. Given 4-6 weeks notice and several date/time options, you have the flexibility to commit to a workshop. You’re not juggling a rigid full-time job or an unpredictable workload that makes scheduling a headache.
    • Adapt easily to the unpredictability of travel and events. Whether it’s flight delays or last-minute event hiccups, you keep things moving because you expect the unexpected and always have a backup plan (or three). The show must go on—and you know how to make it happen.
    • Manage remote work effectively while on the go. You're a digital nomad type that sees travel days as opportunities to be productive, not as lost time. Whether answering emails in an airport lounge or getting work done in a hotel or on a college campus, you know how to balance your other professional commitments while traveling.

    Essentials for This Role

    • Experience leading others, whether through facilitation, teaching, coaching, or another role that involves engaging and inspiring groups of diverse people in meaningful ways.
    • Strong project management and logistics skills, including independently handling administrative tasks such as organizing Google Drive documents, handling email communications, and arranging travel (flights, accommodations, and transportation).
    • Access to air travel and reliable transportation—you live within a reasonable distance of a major airport and hold a valid driver's license with access to a vehicle or rental options.

    How to Stand Out

    • Background in mindfulness and/or the core processes embedded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
    • Relevant well-being certifications or credentials, such as a licensed clinician, Certified Peer Specialist, Health or Wellness Coach, Mental Health First Aid instructor, MBSR, MBCT, Registered Yoga Alliance Teacher, etc.
    • Spanish language proficiency at any level.

    Compensation

This role is offered on a part-time, contractual basis and has flexible scheduling options regarding when workshops are booked.

The current remuneration structure for facilitators is as follows:

    • Workshop pay: $400 per 90-minute workshop + extra per diem for overnight trips.
    • Hourly rate for training, preparation, and follow-up: $25 per hour.
    • Travel expenses: Full coverage of travel costs, including transportation, accommodation, and meals.
