    Description

    Position Overview

    The Communications & Social Media Associate, LSS Impact will produce original written content for a variety of Long Story Short Media’s (LSS) nonprofit clients as well as LSS’s own external marketing content. This includes creating website content and blog posts, social media posts, managing social media accounts and analytics, and providing content writing support with business development/proposal teams. This position will provide hands-on experience in multimedia storytelling for a variety of clients and compelling environmental and social impact topics. The position reports directly to the Executive Vice President.

    Responsibilities

    • Create written content for a variety of clients and communications channels, including website news items, human-interest profiles, issue-oriented blogs, and social media posts.
    • Plan and schedule original content, maintain editorial calendars, and project manage the production of content from creative briefs to drafting to the review process and publishing on digital platforms.
    • Manage multiple social media platforms, including posting on LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube, as well as performing analytics.
    • Collaborate with technical teams of graphic designers and editors to ensure brand consistency and accuracy of published content.
    • Work internally across LSS teams to help produce social media and external marketing content for LSS channels, as well as business development and client project proposals.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or related field
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in writing-intensive role for nonprofit or communications agency
    • Provide writing samples and/or portfolio to demonstrate writing across platforms, formats, and audiences
    • Demonstrated ability to write compelling content that aligns with projects, issues, and marketing campaigns
    • Experience with creating content for and managing social media platforms
    • Knowledge and experience with marketing channels including LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube, including analyzing basic analytics and performance metrics, and staying on top of developing platform trends
    • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills
    • Ability to synthesize data and interviews and into compelling and concise journalistic content
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong proofreading and editing abilities
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
    • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and/or Canva for basic multimedia design is a plus

    Working Conditions

    This is an in-office position. After hours work as well as travel will be required occasionally.
