    About the role

    Our designer will join a small team committed to projects for social good as a contractor beginning February 1, 2025, with an expected duration of 4 months and the possibility of continuation. This role will involve working closely with our Creative Director, developers and clients to create attractive static and interactive designs as well as complex data visualization interfaces.

    This is a senior designer-equivalent role. We are seeking an experienced individual who can combine an elegant, forward-thinking editorial design sensibility with a rigorous approach to UX, accessibility, and UI design. Our team is highly collaborative and appreciates original thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.

    This role is remote and our team is distributed across the Americas and Europe, with members concentrated in the SF Bay Area and NYC. See examples of our work at hyperobjekt.com

    Requirements

    • 5 years minimum experience in UI/UX/web design
    • Demonstrates solid grounding and thoughtful approach to user interface design, along with deep knowledge of web user experience principles and best practices
    • Ensures adherence to WCAG accessibility standards
    • Follows an iterative and holistic design-system approach
    • Stays current with modern design and user interface patterns
    • Possesses fluency with Figma and Adobe Creative Suite

    Outcomes

    • Collaborates with Creative Director and other designers to convert concepts into executed designs, and provides guidance and feedback on optimal solutions and user experience
    • Delivers well-organized wireframes, mockups, and other designs that meet Hyperobjekt’s standards, web accessibility criteria, and client requirements, and can be easily adapted to code by developers
    • Communicates and performs QA with developers to translate designs for the interactive web
    • Advances design and web experience innovation in accordance with our goal of being on the leading edge of digital production
    • Establishes comprehensive design systems for each project that facilitate future expansion and handoff to other designers
    • Makes contributions to Hyperobjekt’s design reference library / idea board

    Expected Commitment & Compensation

    Onboarding for this engagement begins in the last week of January 2025, and work kicks off on February 1. We expect an average weekly commitment of 25 hours. Pay will be competitive and commensurate with experience. Please supply your target hourly rate when applying.
