Our clients include political candidates, ballot measures, issue advocacy campaigns, non-profit organizations, and Fortune 500 corporations.

We take pride in the diversity of our team – we are bilingual, have women and people of color in high-level leadership positions, and reflect the diversity of the communities we work in. Street Level Strategy is based in Los Angeles and has experience running campaigns in over a dozen states from the East Coast to Hawaii.

    Position Overview:

Street Level Strategy is seeking a dedicated Community Engagement Coordinator to support the emPOWER Gateway project. Customer Experience Managers will help drive emPOWER’s mission of providing access to vital environmental and climate incentives, including corporate rebates and tax credits across Southern California. In this hybrid role, you'll balance field canvassing with case management responsibilities, directly engaging with and supporting the community.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about community outreach, committed to making a meaningful impact, and skilled at communicating effectively with diverse populations in both English and Spanish. If you're driven by social change and want to help empower underserved communities, this role is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting difference.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Field Canvassing

    • Conduct door-to-door outreach in designated neighborhoods (Southgate to Long Beach) to inform residents about the vehicle rebate program.
    • Promote energy efficiency programs, financial aid, and utility bill discounts to eligible low-income residents.
    • Engage in friendly and informative conversations with community members, answering questions and assisting with program enrollment.
    • Collect data, maintain records of outreach activities, and ensure follow-up actions are completed.

    Case Management

    • Assist residents in completing applications for emPOWER’s financial aid and rebate programs.
    • Provide clear instructions and support to clients throughout the process, ensuring all paperwork is submitted correctly.
    • Track client progress, follow up as necessary, and ensure that program requirements are met.
    • Maintain accurate records and handle sensitive data with confidentiality.

    Relationship Building & Community Engagement

    • Lead workshops to present program details as a subject matter expert, fostering trust and empowering residents with vital information on environmental and climate incentives.
    • Professionally represent emPOWER, building rapport and credibility through clear, thoughtful communication.
    • Establish and sustain strong relationships with community members, addressing concerns and overcoming skepticism to drive program engagement.
    • Use every interaction as an opportunity to build connections, answer questions, and inspire confidence in the program’s value.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Fluency in English and Spanish with the ability to communicate technical and complex program details.
    • Experience in community outreach, public engagement, or canvassing.
    • Strong communication skills with diverse community members.
    • Detail-oriented with the ability to follow processes accurately.
    • Proficient with technology for data entry and communication.
    • Self-motivated, able to work independently and manage time effectively.
    • Must be available to attend workshops and trainings at various locations in the South LA area.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Previous case management experience.
    • Experience with energy efficiency programs, rebates, or community services.
    • Familiarity and connection with local neighborhoods and communities from Southgate to Long Beach.
    • Proficiency with GSuite (Google Sheets, Google Docs), Salesforce, and RingCentral is a plus.

    Benefits:

    • Mileage reimbursement for travel between job sites
    • Hybrid role with fieldwork and office support
    • $28/hr, 30+ hours/week
    • Eligible for health benefits with consistent hours
    • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community
