Project Coordinator – Korean Language Outreach

Position Overview:

Cascadia Consulting Group is seeking a Project Coordinator to support our Communications and Engagement (C+E) lines of business. This role includes outreach and support to help local businesses and residents implement green actions and support community workshops and focus groups. Candidates must have intermediate proficiency in Korean and fluency in English. Cascadia seeks candidates willing to be inquisitive and reflective about incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion concepts into their work.

Examples of everyday tasks may include: 

• Engaging inclusively with businesses, property managers, and multifamily residents on environmental topics through phone calls, door-to-door outreach (in accordance with local health and safety guidelines), presentations, and events.
• Effectively communicating with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and performing all job functions with equal proficiency in both English and Korean. This includes in-person outreach to residents and business representatives regarding recycling, composting, resource conservation, and pollution prevention working closely in a team as well as independently.
• Providing on-site or virtual assistance to inspire and empower businesses to adopt sustainable practices and take action to protect human health and the environment, from reducing waste and saving water and energy, to preventing pollution and exploring sustainable transportation.
• Creating written and visual content for outreach materials (e.g., factsheets, emails, website or social media content).
• Coordinating business recruitment, interviews, and surveys through phone calls, emails, video calls, on-site visits, or events and completing electronic data entry, both in-field and in-office in English and Korean.
• Contacting businesses in English and Korean to explain local recycling requirements and scheduling follow-up meetings to offer more in-depth assistance.
• Tracking and managing multiple deadlines.
• Evaluating and providing guidance on program design to ensure underserved communities have equitable access.
• Using tools such as Excel, Google G Suite, and Salesforce to track outreach and engagement outcomes.

Qualifications:

A demonstrated ability to successfully perform the above listed responsibilities typically include:

• Fluent in English—Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both in person and over the phone.
• Intermediate proficiency skills in speaking Korean with basic reading and writing.
• Experience in providing culturally competent engagement with community and can connect respectfully with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, including Korean-speaking communities in the Seattle area.
• Ability and willingness to speak to business representatives and multifamily property managers and provide technical assistance on the phone and in-person on your own and with colleagues.
• Ability to communicate technical information—Such as environmental impacts and benefits, city ordinances, and local policies—in a clear and concise manner in Korean and English.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt to diverse styles and perspectives.
• Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines, with an attention to detail in a dynamic work environment.
• Commitment to working both in teams and independently to advance common goals, think creatively, use sound judgement to resolve issues, and create high-quality, effective work products.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.
• Experience with customer service, sales or outreach.
• Basic to intermediate experience with Microsoft Office 365 programs, including SharePoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Adobe products and Google G Suite, with a willingness to expand skills in these areas.
• Valid driver’s license and comfort with driving throughout Seattle and King County (personal vehicle not required).
• Desire to immerse in the environmental sector, learn more about waste reduction and recycling, water and energy efficiency, stormwater and wastewater pollution prevention, transportation, and climate change. Prior experience in these areas is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with social marketing and behavior change.

The experience and education typical to demonstrate this level of ability is a four-year degree in a related field (e.g., environmental studies) and at least 0-4 years of relevant experience of progressive responsibility. Compensation and Benefits:

This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt, position, based in our Seattle office. The position must be available for local client meetings in the Greater Seattle area but may otherwise work remotely. Cascadia does have physical office space in downtown Seattle and a culture that encourages in-person engagement with colleagues while supporting remote flexibility. Hourly rates are based on experience and competitive with jobs in the environmental sector; the anticipated hourly rate range for this position is $27.53 - $37.25.
