    Description

    The Program Coordinator advances the quality and growth of Viristar’s program offerings by overseeing program-related projects and tasks. The Program Coordinator is responsible for their own portfolio of projects, and works in collaboration with the Program Manager and other Viristar staff on curriculum development, promotion and outreach, program facilitation, and logistics and administrative duties.

    Job Responsibilities

    General program leadership

    1. Contribute to improvements to existing training offerings
    2. Support the development of new training courses
    3. Support the development and delivery of new versions and formats of existing courses
    4. Support updates and improvements to Viristar textbooks, including revisions and publication in different languages, as assigned
    5. Manage program-related customer service requests, as assigned
    6. Coordinate administrative aspects of Viristar’s wilderness and remote medicine training program
    7. Administer scholarship program, including responding to applications and improving scholarship system
    8. Support Communications personnel in development of program-related media content
    9. In collaboration with Program Manager, perform select marketing and sales functions, such as responding to queries, submitting proposals and contracts, and closing sales
    10. Coordinate elements of major consulting projects, in conjunction with Program Manager

    Program operations

    1. Support program logistics through acquiring supplies, shipping program materials, and related administrative tasks
    2. Coordinate project activities to support program development, such as regarding trademark acquisition, external recognition, and international IP licensing

    Risk Management for Outdoor Programs online course

    1. Facilitate select Live Sessions, as needed
    2. Handle customer service issues (in conjunction with IT or other staff)
    3. Follow up with participants to help ensure timely course completion
    4. Coordinate response to evaluation feedback

    Qualifications

    1. Extensive knowledge of outdoor education/recreation, adventure, travel and experiential education fields
    2. Excellent written and spoken communication skills
    3. Excellent attention to detail
    4. Competence with technology such as Google Workspace, messaging apps, and video-conferencing
    5. Outstanding interpersonal, customer service and organizational skills
    6. Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
    7. Ability to successfully work as team member, multi-task, and work independently
    8. Ability to work with minimal supervision, and remotely
    9. Capacity to handle innovation and ambiguity, as with start-up and young organizations 10. Eligibility to work in the USA

    Preferred Qualifications

    1. Understanding of theory and good practice standards in outdoor and experiential program risk management
    2. Experience with online education
    3. Professional experience working in international and intercultural contexts

    Compensation

    • Salary commensurate with experience; anticipated starting salary range US $40,000-45,000

    Location: Remote, anywhere within the USA. Potential for occasional (~5%) travel to US or international locations.
