    Description

Have you always had a secret (or not so secret) desire to change the world? Our team does this every day by supporting organizations and systems dedicated to improving people’s lives. Our vision is to be a dedicated team of world-class consultants with limitless impact. We help organizations that help others.

We are actively looking to diversify our team as part of our efforts to become an anti-racist organization and to better serve our clients through the inclusion of varied perspectives. We encourage people of diverse, especially marginalized backgrounds and experiences, to apply. This includes people of diverse races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, disabilities, religions, socioeconomic statuses, work, ages, life experiences and backgrounds, perspectives, and skills.

We are seeking a full-time (at least 32 hours/week) Research and Evaluation Associate to work with our team of consultants in providing a variety of supports for our government and nonprofit clients. If you are mission-driven, team-oriented, and curious, with a desire to work in an environment of consistent learning and excellence, this is the perfect position for you.

What is SEI and why do people join our team?

SEI is a small, Nevada-based consulting firm with over 25 years of experience in health and human services. Our mission is to improve the lives of people by helping organizations realize their potential. As such, we partner with a variety of organizations (such as nonprofits, state and local governmental agencies, foundations, and associations) on a wide range of project types. This includes needs assessments, strategic planning, program development, evaluation, financial planning, capacity building, and collective impact systems, just to name a few.

Working at SEI, you can expect:

A collaborative organizational structure. All team members participate in collaborative decision making at every level of the business.

A semi-flexible work schedule. We generally follow traditional work hours (9-5) to align with our clients’ schedules, but we also understand that people have a lot going on in their lives. Adjusting your work schedule to accommodate personal commitments or support your well-being is encouraged at SEI as long as you meet your obligations to the company and its clients.

A commitment to becoming an anti-racist organization. Our team is dedicated to becoming an anti-racist organization by expanding our knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusionary principles and practices and incorporating them into our daily work, with our clients as well as within our organizational operations.

Personal coaching and organizational support. All SEI team members are connected to another team member to serve as a coach, whose role is to support their professional development. We take a strengths-based approach, and we want to make sure you are engaging in work that helps you feel fulfilled and supports your personal growth.

Variety! No day at SEI is the same—some days you might be crunching data and meeting with clients, on others you might be developing a report or supporting sales opportunities.

    About the Role

If you join our team as a Research and Evaluation Services Associate, the main responsibilities of the role include:

Planning and organizing research and evaluation efforts. You’ll work with internal team members and SEI clients to design, create and/or maintain research and evaluation frameworks and develop data collection plans. Activities include researching best practice and research methods particular to SEI client needs, developing research questions and/or performance measures, and establishing sound methodologies and tools for data collection efforts. You may also provide consultation to clients to ensure that existing data collection efforts meet research, performance measurement and/or evaluation needs.

Data collection, analysis, and research. We want to support our clients in making data-driven decisions, and you will play a critical role in collecting and analyzing that data. You will implement primary research activities such as designing surveys, conducting interviews, or facilitating focus groups; and conduct secondary research, such as gathering data from our clients or other publicly available sources. You’ll also work independently to review, clean, analyze, synthesize, and interpret data using appropriate statistical methods and tools. You’ll work with complex data sets, matching and querying data, as well as conducting analysis and communicating results in a way that is consumable and actionable for SEI clients. In summary, we’ll rely on you to help compile, analyze, synthesize, and document the results of our team’s research and data collection efforts. Finding meaning in the data is a team effort at SEI, but you will be asked to help identify relevant patterns and findings, and to present the data and those findings in graphically appealing ways.

Preparing written reports and documents. We regularly produce reports, dashboards, presentations, and other visual representations of data, as well as discussion guides, questionnaires, and other documents/tools needed to support appropriate data collection efforts. Many of these products are shared with the public by our clients, and you’ll be asked to help develop these documents and get them in tip-top shape before they are distributed.

Assisting in the development of SEI products and services. You’ll contribute to the growth, scope and quality of SEI products and services by identifying opportunities to leverage or enhance our work products, seeking out and sharing knowledge that contributes to increased value, and participating in opportunities to design and develop new SEI products and services. You’ll also contribute to the sales process by supporting the identification of sales opportunities, conducting needs assessments, and assisting with proposal development.

Collaborating and communicating to support successful projects. Part of your role is to support your teammates in reaching project milestones by providing organizational support tracking the status of tasks or objectives, proactively communicating barriers or challenges, and actively participating in project management and client meetings.

Providing other on-demand support for client service projects and internal projects. Your responsibilities will shift as projects, your own skillset, and our client portfolio change over time, so you’ll want to be prepared to take on new tasks throughout your time at SEI.
