    Description

Cascadia Consulting Group is a women-owned, private environmental consulting firm with 32 years of experience developing and implementing innovative solutions to today’s environmental challenges. Cascadia works with public and private-sector clients to advance sustainability through recycling and materials management, climate change mitigation and adaptation, energy efficiency, pollution prevention, transportation demand management, and water and natural resources management. The Cascadia team brings both established expertise and creative thinking to research and analysis, strategic planning, program design and implementation, outreach, social marketing and behavior change, and evaluation roles. With offices in Oakland (CA), Seattle (WA), and a network of remote employees, we serve clients across the U.S. and internationally.

At Cascadia, we strive to create an equitable and inclusive environment at all levels of the organization. Our staff and partnerships reflect the diverse communities we serve. This empowers us to shape innovative and effective solutions alongside those most impacted by social, human, and environmental health challenges.

    Position Overview:

Cascadia Consulting Group is looking for an engaging and organized Project Coordinator to join our Communications and Engagement (C+E) line of business. In this role, you will engage in inclusive and strategic outreach to provide support for local businesses and residents to implement green actions. Candidates must have intermediate proficiency in Spanish and fluency in English. We value candidates who are curious and thoughtful about integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion into their work. We also seek candidates who are dedicated to making a positive impact.

Examples of everyday tasks may include:

    • Engage inclusively with businesses, property managers, and multifamily residents on environmental topics through phone calls, door-to-door outreach (in accordance with local health and safety guidelines), presentations, and events.
    • Communicate effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and perform all job functions with equal proficiency in both English and Spanish. Job functions include in-person outreach to residents and business representatives regarding recycling, composting, resource conservation, energy management, and pollution prevention. This position involves working closely in a team as well as independently.
    • Provide on-site and virtual assistance to inspire and empower businesses to adopt sustainable practices and take action to protect human health and the environment. Sustainable practices include reducing waste, saving water, conserving energy, edible food recovery, and preventing pollution.
    • Create written and visual content for outreach materials (such as factsheets, emails, website or social media content).
    • Coordinate business recruitment, interviews, and surveys through phone calls, emails, video calls, on-site visits, or events. Complete associated electronic data entry, both in-field and in-office in English and Spanish.
    • Contact businesses in English and Spanish to explain local recycling requirements and schedule follow-up meetings to offer more in-depth assistance.
    • Track and manage multiple deadlines to ensure timely completion of tasks.
    • Evaluate and provide guidance on program design to ensure overburden communities have equitable access.
    • Use tools like Excel, Google G Suite, and Salesforce to track outreach and engagement outcomes.

    Qualifications:

    • Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing English.
    • Intermediate proficiency skills in speaking Spanish with basic reading and writing.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, both in person and over the phone and with the ability to adapt to diverse styles and perspectives.
    • Experience in providing culturally competent engagement with community and connecting respectfully with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, including Spanish-speaking communities in the Greater Bay Area.
    • Confidence in speaking to business representatives and multifamily property managers and providing technical assistance on your own and with colleagues, both in person and over the phone.
    • Ability to communicate technical information—such as environmental impacts and benefits as well as city, county, and state ordinances and policies—in a clear and concise manner in Spanish and English.
    • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines, with attention to detail in a dynamic work environment. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.
    • Committed to working both in teams and independently to advance common goals, think creatively, use sound judgement to resolve issues, and create high-quality, effective work products.
    • Experience with customer service, sales, or outreach.
    • Basic to intermediate experience with Microsoft Office 365 programs (including SharePoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) as well as Adobe products and Google G Suite, with a willingness to expand skills in these areas.
    • Valid state driver’s license and comfort with driving throughout the Greater Bay Area (personal vehicle not required).
    • Eagerness to learn more about waste reduction and recycling, edible food recovery and food waste prevention, water and energy efficiency, transportation, climate change, and the environmental sector. Prior experience in these areas is preferred but not required.
    • Experience with social marketing and behavior change. Prior experience in this area is preferred but not required.
