We specialize in bookkeeping, administrative support, human resources, and payroll services. As we continue to grow, we seek a part-time Finance Operations Manager to join our team and play a key role in managing client accounts and delivering high-quality financial operations support.

    Role Overview

    The Finance Operations Manager will manage client accounts, oversee financial operations, and ensure nonprofit clients receive timely and accurate financial support. This role requires strong financial expertise, leadership potential, investigative skills, and emotional intelligence (EQ)—especially in a client-facing capacity.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Serve as the primary client account contact for assigned nonprofit accounts.
    • Perform routine bookkeeping, including accounts receivable and payable.
    • Conduct bank and credit card reconciliations and process bank deposits.
    • Track grant expenses and prepare financial and fundraising/development reports.
    • Develop and monitor budgets and cash flow projections.
    • Process payroll and manage HR/benefits administration.
    • Assist in developing and implementing systems, policies, and processes to improve client efficiency.
    • Supervise and coordinate administrative support staff assigned to client accounts.
    • Lead and facilitate client meetings, ensuring clear communication and strategic planning.
    • Work closely with leadership to deliver high-quality client service and proactive financial guidance.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    • 1+ years of related nonprofit sector experience is required.
    • Strong understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required.
    • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is required.
    • Experience leading meetings and working in a client-facing capacity, with the ability to communicate financial information effectively.
    • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and networking skills.
    • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
    • Commitment to justice and equity as we support organizations with socially progressive missions.
    • Ability to maintain professionalism and poise in all circumstances.
    • Ability to work on-site in Salem, MA, as needed, with flexibility for remote work.
    • Fluency in English is required; additional language skills are a plus.

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent relevant experience.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.

    Compensation & Benefits

    As a part-time employee, you will be eligible for the following benefits:

    • Salary: Based on direct experience level in nonprofit financial management.
    • 401(k) Retirement Plan – NPOC provides a 3% 1:1 match and a ½:1 employer match for contributions up to an additional 2%, available after 180 days of service.
    • Paid Time Off (PTO) – Two (2) weeks of vacation time, accrued on a prorated basis according to hours worked.
    • Sick Leave – One (1) week of sick time, accrued prorated according to hours worked.
    • Paid Holidays – Paid time off for company-recognized holidays (subject to NPOC’s holiday schedule, which may change).
    • Eligibility for additional benefits upon transitioning to a full-time role.
