Direct Democracy in New Zealand

We are a non profit democracy organisation (DDNZ.org) that is looking to establish real democracy in New Zealand so that the thoughts of citizens directly count in communities, regions and all the way up to National level by using referenda and citizens assembly practices.

All views matter, we are not about any particular agenda, interest or group, just a fair and balanced system for everyone to vote on all issues.

Our ultimate objective is to one day remove the entire political layer and have all public decisions made by the public + expert input... from local level to national level.

The definition of democracy is literally "Rule of the people".

We are interested in helpers from those with an interest in real democracy in general, you don't need to be a New Zealander.

What if you are from another country?

New Zealand is a small country and relatively easy to turn towards true democratic principles compared to larger more complex countries. Other bigger countries have much more in the way of political challenge to achieve this. If we can make it happen in New Zealand, that success can flow to other countries, if you want to help in that, simply because it would have pave the way for your country, please get in touch.
