For generations, Indigenous communities have safeguarded invaluable knowledge, cultural heritage, and environmental wisdom, continually contributing to the world’s diversity and pioneering a sustainable relationship with the land. In recognizing their enduring impact, we’d like to spotlight a few organizations working tirelessly to support and uplift Native communities in meaningful ways.

The career opportunities featured below are involved in advancing social, environmental, and public health justice, with a special focus on marginalized communities, including Native American and Indigenous peoples. 1. California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), Sacramento, CA

Caltrans is dedicated to providing a safe and reliable transportation network that serves all people and respects the environment. Managing over 50,000 miles of California's highways and freeways, Caltrans also provides intercity rail services and oversees more than 400 public-use airports and special-use hospital heliports in partnership with local agencies. In line with their mission to create sustainable and inclusive transportation systems, they are hiring for a Regional Planning Liaison and a Climate Change Senior Transportation Planner (Supervisor) to work in a hybrid capacity in or near Sacramento, CA.

2. IllumiNative, Remote Role 

IllumiNative is a Native women-led organization focused on increasing the visibility and representation of Native peoples in contemporary society. Their mission is to challenge the erasure of Native voices and issues by using research, storytelling, and media to educate the public and advocate for justice, equity, and self-determination for Native communities. They are hiring an Online Giving Manager to work remotely. 

3. Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC), Remote Role 

RCAC is a nonprofit that partners with underserved rural and Indigenous communities across 13 western states and Pacific islands. Their mission is to support these communities through technical assistance, training, financial resources, and advocacy, helping them achieve their vision for sustainable growth. They are hiring a Rural Housing Technical Assistance Specialist (Job #291) to work remotely. 

4. Public Health Law Center at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, Remote Role 

The Public Health Law Center is a nonprofit organization that focuses on advancing public health through legal and policy advocacy. Dedicated to issues like health equity, racial justice, and the social determinants of health, their team includes attorneys admitted to state or Tribal bars, highlighting its commitment to diverse communities, including Tribal nations.  They are currently hiring multiple Staff Attorneys/Senior Staff Attorneys to work remotely.

5. League of Conservation Voters Education Fund, Remote Role 

The League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (LCVEF) works to protect public lands and ensure equitable access to outdoor spaces, with a strong commitment to racial, social, and environmental justice. Their mission aligns with the protection of lands that are culturally significant to Indigenous peoples. They are hiring a Public Lands Fellow to work remotely. 

6. Braided River, Seattle, WA 

Braided River protects wild places in western North America through public engagement campaigns based on large-format photographic books. In partnership with Mountaineers Books, these campaigns feature exhibits, presentations, and media outreach. Their work addresses biodiversity loss and the climate crisis, collaborating with conservation groups, Indigenous tribes, and funders to promote education and advocacy. They are hiring a Communications and Development Manager to work in a hybrid capacity in or near Seattle, WA. 

7. Pesticide Action Network North America, Remote Role 

Pesticide Action Network (PAN) has promoted eco-friendly alternatives to pesticides since 1982. PAN North America is part of a global network of over 600 groups in 90+ countries, including Native and Tribal organizations in America, as part of its broader commitment to supporting those impacted by industrial agriculture and environmental injustices. They are hiring an Organizing Lead to work remotely. 

8. Masa, Bronx, NY

Masa’s community-led, integrated learning model for Mexican and Latino children, youth, and families in the South Bronx engages the entire family, grounded in a deep commitment to strengthening literacy, leadership, and power for Mexican, Central American, and Indigenous People. They are hiring for the following roles to work on-site in or near Bronx, NY: 

9. Mercado Global, Remote Role 

Through business development support and unique collections that blend Mayan craftsmanship with modern design, Mercado Global connects Indigenous women artisans in rural Guatemala with international markets, empowering them to lift their families out of poverty and become leaders in their communities. They are hiring a Development Associate to work remotely.
