2 Email Templates for Networking | Template Toolbox
When it comes to introducing yourself to other social-impact professionals, learning about organizations, and ultimately landing your next job, writing a strong networking email is an incredibly useful skill. Even if you aren’t currently job searching, networking is an important way to connect with others and stay up-to-date on their career journeys (as well as an efficient method for letting others know what’s new with you!).
We’re bringing you two email templates for networking that can help you meet new people or follow-up with existing contacts to explore opportunities. These templates take the heavy lifting out of your email communication so that growing your network is as easy as hitting send (after some customization, of course!).
But first, a few quick tips on how to use email effectively in your job search strategy:
- Short emails get responses; no need to add unnecessary details about your background.
- By the end of your email, the person on the receiving end should know who you are, what common ground you share, and what you’re asking for.
- Write a clear subject line that shows why you’re reaching out, such as “Coffee chat? I’m interested in your career journey” or “Following up after [Event/Conference]: Let's continue the conversation.”
- Share contact information and any relevant professional links in your sign-off.
When you’re asking for an introduction
One of the best things you can do for your job search is to utilize the network you already have. If you find that you share a mutual connection with someone you’d like to meet, customize this email template to tap your existing network for an introduction.

As you use these email templates for networking purposes, don’t be discouraged if people say no or don’t respond to your requests. They may be busy or simply don’t think they have enough helpful information to share with you, and that’s okay!
The important thing is that you continue to seek out interesting and relevant contacts. As long as you remain genuine and focus on professionals whose backgrounds relate to your career goals, you’ll be sure to make a few new connections to aid your job search.
