Designed for kids ranging from kindergarten to 12th grade, Stemtree’s unique programs ignite each child’s intrinsic desire to learn about the world around them.

We are seeking a dynamic instructor to join our after-school STEM program on a part-time basis. In this role, you’ll be in charge of overseeing and planning daily activities, preparing learning materials, providing one-to-one instruction to students on a variety of STEM activities, projects, and experiments, and assessing student progress on a regular basis.

Ultimately, an instructor at Stemtree of Lower Manhattan should be a friendly, approachable individual with a passion for teaching and excellent communication skills.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide top tier, engaging instruction utilizing proven Stemtree methods, curriculum, and provided materials.
    • Assess student skills in each STEM subject area and develop an individualized learning plan that targets each area of growth.
    • Coach students in a one-to-one setting, observe student progress over time, and differentiate instruction to meet each student’s unique learning needs.
    • Establish clear classroom rules, expectations, and guidelines with students and ensure policies outlined in the Stemtree Handbook are adhered to.

    Qualifications

    • Experience working with children as a teacher, after-school teacher, teaching assistant, tutor, camp counselor or in a similar role.
    • Experience teaching math, sciences, tech, robotics, and/or engineering.
    • Bachelor’s degree (or working towards completing) in teaching or STEM related field.
    • Ability to foster a fun and safe classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
    • Passion and skill for building hands-on projects with kids and a strong desire to teach children.
    • Most importantly, you hold the belief that every student can learn and love math, science, technology, and engineering.

    Job Benefits

    • Compensation: $25-35 per hour (considering experience).
    • Part-time position.
    • All curriculum and materials are provided (you do not need to create lesson plans).
    • Flexible scheduling: Opportunities to teach anywhere from 1 to 3 days per week.

    Career Benefits

    • Professional Development & Training: All instructors will receive comprehensive training in classroom management strategies as well as Stemtree’s unique teaching pedagogy during on-boarding sessions. Further opportunities for targeted coaching and development of teaching skills are available on an individual basis.
    • Career Networking: Opportunities to collaborate and connect with Stemtree faculty in any of our 15 locations across the country.
    • Teaching Experience: Student Teaching/Fieldwork Credit towards select Bachelor’s/Master’s Programs in Education.
