As a Volunteer Greeter at the Bellingham Farmers Market, you'll play a vital role in creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere for visitors. This role offers the opportunity to engage with a diverse range of visitors while soaking in the lively atmosphere that defines our market. You'll meet new people, connect with local vendors, and become an essential part of the welcoming spirit that makes the Bellingham Farmers Market so special. 

Responsibilities:

• Greeting Visitors: Cheerfully greet customers as they enter the market and thank them as they leave.
• Information Support & Directions: Provide customers with information about the market, including vendor locations, market layout, and other general information. Assist customers in finding specific vendors or products within the market using the Daily Market Map.
• Answering Questions: Respond to customer queries about market amenities such as restrooms, the Info Booth, and other facilities.
• Market Safety and Cleanliness: Maintain awareness of surroundings and alert staff to any potential safety issues or cleanliness concerns.
• Customer Service: Deliver excellent customer service by being approachable, helpful, and friendly at all times. Courteously listen to customer feedback and communicate it to Market Staff in a constructive manner. 
• Assisting with Events: Support the market during special events or activities as needed.

Qualifications:

• Friendly and Approachable: Strong interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and a welcoming demeanor.
• Good Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse range of people.
• Knowledge of the Market: Familiarity with the Bellingham Farmers Market, including the layout, vendors, and general market information (training provided). • Dependable: Reliable and able to commit to a regular schedule.
• Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with other volunteers and market staff.
• Comfortable standing or walking for extended periods of time, during inclement weather conditions.

Time Commitment: A minimum of 4 hours per shift, typically during market operating hours, 10AM-2PM. Volunteers should commit to a regular schedule (e.g., every Saturday, alternating Saturdays, etc.)

Training: Training will be provided on-site. Volunteers will receive an orientation to familiarize them with the market layout, vendor information, and key market guidelines.
