    Descrição

"A Song For You"Charity Seeks Volunteers in Fundraising & Development (3-5 hours a week)

    Background

A Song for You is a music charity based in New York City focused on writing & recording personalized songs for patients & families in hospice & hospitals to bring comfort, joy, and a little bit of peace to those at the end of life.  Born in the pandemic, we have been working as an initiative since then,& recently incorporated into a 501c3 non-profit. With a generous response from the community & journalists alike,  A Song for You has been featured in stories from NBC to ABC to Medium, Upworthy, Chicago Tribune, and PEOPLE Magazine.

Born in the pandemic, A Song for You is a grassroots art not-for-profit that provides essential healing and comfort to hospice patients (and their loved ones) at the end of their lives. Through personalized recorded songs, we honor the legacies patients leave behind while creating a final moment of connection between them and their families. What started as a singular call to action by our founder to ensure isolated Covid-19 patients did not die alone, (particularly in a moment in our world when families could not be in the room with one another) "A Song For You" has now grown into a nationwide movement and recently its own charity. Over a time span of 18 months, our artists wrote, recorded, and shared over 200 personalized songs, written from scratch, based on the stories of each individual patient as told through their families to help their legacies live on in song after they've gone. Songs were also written to honor first responders--including a staff as small as 100 Nurses to one song written for a healthcare system of 15,000 Nurses at Christmas last year to say thank you.  Following a most generous response from the community at large, we have expanded beyond the pandemic and pandemic patients to writing songs for patients in hospice and hospital. We have built a strong community of Artists, and attracted Grammy award-winning artists along with local, touring, and internationally awarded artists here and abroad.
