More About Us
The Black Women’s Institute for Health (BWIH) is a registered charity that works to address the unique health challenges faced by Black women and girls. We focus on the social determinants of health, advocating for systemic change and providing direct support through innovative programs.
Our core initiatives include:
Mothering Minds: A mental health program supporting mothers with resources, workshops, and access to professional care.
Health Advocacy and Promotion: Workshops and resources that empower Black women to navigate healthcare systems and understand health conditions that disproportionately affect them.
Voices Unheard: The first national survey focused on the health outcomes of Black women in Canada, which aims to generate actionable insights for advocacy and policy changes.
We serve Black women and girls across Canada, prioritizing equitable access to health resources and amplifying their voices in conversations about health equity.
Our values are rooted in community, equity, advocacy, and empowerment, and we strive to create a space where Black women and girls feel seen, supported, and valued.
