CASH Campaign of Maryland

The CASH Campaign of Maryland (Creating Assets, Savings and Hope) is a nonprofit organization that is the result of a merger between the CASH Campaigns of Baltimore and Maryland. As long time partners and allies, these programs joined forces to create one unified organization in July 2017.

The CASH Campaign of Maryland promotes economic advancement for low-to-moderate income individuals and families in Baltimore and across Maryland. CASH accomplishes its mission through operating a portfolio of direct service programs, building organizational and field capacity, and leading policy and advocacy initiatives to strengthen family economic stability.

The CASH Campaign of Maryland continues to provide a range of direct services and lead a coalition of partners. The coalition partners include foundations, nonprofits, community-based organizations, government agencies, the Internal Revenue Service, and hundreds of volunteers.

CASH Campaign of Maryland focuses on the following core strategies to accomplish its mission:

 1)Provides free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) to help low-income individuals and families file tax returns, avoid predatory fees and claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)

2)Coordinates and expands access to free, fact-based financial education and coaching

3)Connects low-income individuals and families to high-quality financial services and products

4)Recruits, trains, and manages a corps of volunteers

5)Leads a network of direct service providers that offer free tax preparation, financial education and coaching, benefits screening, and access to appropriate financial services

6)Builds statewide program capacity by integrating asset building services into public and private systems

7)Leads research and advocacy on effective program practices, innovative state policies, and issues affecting the financial security of low-income individuals and families.
