Tenerife Horse Rescue

Tenerife Horse Rescue is a sustainable horse and animal sanctuary that is home to over 500 animals rescued from abuse and neglect. These animals include, but are not limited to: horses, pigs, donkeys, chickens, ducks, rabbits, turtles, dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and a bearded dragon.

Completely built from recycled materials, run on solar power, and sustained by a “freegan” lifestyle, we pride ourselves in caring for animals in need while living sustainably. We are a fully licensed non-governmental organization, completely donation-funded and volunteer-run.

Work at the sanctuary is divided into teams; each team consists of a manager and a group of volunteers. Teams include: large animals, small animals, construction, kitchen, food procurement (“Lidl Team” and gardening team), and the office team. Over 50 volunteers, local and international, dedicate their time to supporting the animals and the work of the organization.
