  • Sobre Nós

Mission: LEAD Ohio is dedicated to developing strong, progressive leadership by recruiting, training, and empowering individuals across the state. We equip leaders with the tools they need to advocate for economic and social justice within their communities, focusing on elevating underrepresented groups in government.

What We Do: We address a vital gap in Ohio's progressive infrastructure through a variety of training programs tailored to community leaders. Our programs prioritize equity and inclusivity, especially for women, people of color, Millennials, Gen Z, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. LEAD Ohio helps individuals build the skills necessary to lead and influence civic life and government.

    Programs:

    • LEAD Candidate Academy: A comprehensive six-weekend program for aspiring candidates, from township trustees to U.S. Congress members.
    • LEAD Campaign Staff Academy: A four-weekend intensive for campaign managers, staffers, and super volunteers, teaching how to run successful campaigns.
    • Women LEADing Ohio: Designed specifically for women looking to engage civically or run for office, this program is taught by women professionals with experience in navigating traditionally male-dominated spaces.
    • Weekend Workshops: Full-day training sessions covering campaign and leadership skills for potential candidates, staff, operatives, and community leaders.
    • Informational Sessions: Brief 90-minute evening sessions introducing LEAD Ohio’s mission, programs, and civic engagement opportunities.

Why LEAD Ohio: LEAD Ohio stands out by offering state-specific leadership training, focusing on Ohio’s unique political landscape, rules, and cultural issues. This provides our participants with the knowledge and tools to make meaningful contributions within the state.

Who We Serve: LEAD Ohio welcomes progressive individuals from all backgrounds. Our training is especially beneficial to community leaders, nonprofit executives, campaign operatives, volunteers, and aspiring candidates for public office. We strive to promote leadership that reflects Ohio’s diverse communities, ensuring inclusive representation in government and civic life.

As both a 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organization, LEAD Ohio’s programs are divided between these entities, serving as a nonpartisan educational resource and leadership training hub. We remain dedicated to strengthening progressive leadership without endorsing or opposing specific candidates for public office.
