Description
Community Health Centers are a vital part of our health care system. Nationwide, community health centers serve as the “family doctor” or “Medical Home” for approximately 23 Million people. Health Centers play a critical role in promoting access to prevention-focused primary care services by serving patients regardless of their insurance status. They work to remove financial, geographic, ling...uistic, cultural and other barriers that often isolate both insured and uninsured or uninsured patients from the care they need and deserve. Preserving the dignity of each individual is fundamental to what community health centers do. Many of our patients are among the nation’s 46 Million uninsured and an additional 25 million underinsured for whom access to health care is limited or non-existent. Health Centers typically accept both government and private insurance plans. Additionally, they offer service on a sliding fee basis, depending on what the patient can afford.
