    The UNC Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (HPDP) was established in 1985. The Center’s mission is to improve the health of people in North Carolina and the Southeast through interdisciplinary research, teaching, and public service. Particular emphasis is paid to the needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged populations. The Center is supported by funding from the five Health Affairs schools, the Office of the Associate Provost for Health Affairs, federal competitive research grants, private foundation grants and contractual agreements.
