Unified Vailsburg Services Organization

Unified Vailsburg Services Organization (UVSO) is a neighborhood based human services and community development agency founded by local residents in 1972. The goal of the organization was to "create a stable and compassionate community" by bringing together representatives of various local groups in an attempt to solve some of the neighborhood problems. Since that time UVSO has been a mainstay and after twenty-eight years, Unified Vailsburg Services Organization still maintains a prominence in the community and continues to be the hub for neighborhood services and activities. UVSO serves a daily average of six hundred Vailsburg residents of all ages through a wide variety of programs.

The current services of the organization include: meals on wheels; congregate meals; special transportation; health screening and counseling; homemakers and home health aides; crisis intervention and family counseling; infant, preschool, and school-age child care centers, a summer day camp; a senior citizen center; housing development; and community and parent organizing programs.
