Founded in 1959, Lutheran Community Services (LCS) has a mission to help individuals and families address food, housing and other essential needs with dignity and respect. We operate a network of food pantries, provide emergency financial assistance, and help deliver smoking cessation services. Our vision: people moving from emergency to empowerment.

We are collaborating on a new program with a major health care provider to provide an innovative solution for reducing the health disparities experienced by vulnerable communities. We will deliver a variety of healthy unprepared food (food as medicine) to food insecure clients, and our health care partner will provide a holistic set of clinical care resources to help them control their chronic conditions. LCS will manage all food sourcing, ordering, packing and delivery, and coordinate with our health care partner on program objectives.
