The mission of the Maura Clarke - Ita Ford Center, a women's education center in Brooklyn, is to equip women with the skills they need to live and work in their new homeland. Women come to the Center to strengthen themselves, their families and their community by learning to:
Discover ways to support their families financially through job training and entreprenuer training
Speak English and advance their level of education through ESOL classes and GED (in Spanish)
Participate actively in their community through workshops in community organizing.
The Center is named after two Maryknoll nuns who were from the area and were murdered in El Salvador in 1980
