Michigan Organizing Project (MOP) seeks to build power among low-moderate income people of Michigan for a greater degree of justice. MOP is a nonprofit statewide network of organizations, founded in 1993 to assist in the development of strong, congregation-based, grassroots community organizations committed to democratic principles and values of justice and fairness. MOP currently consists of 3 affiliate organizations spread throughout Muskegon, Kalamazoo, and Grand Rapids. Each affiliate organization has their own leaders, staff, funding base, and accomplishments toward justice at the local level. MOP is also affiliated nationally with the Direct Action & Research Training (DART) Center.
