ABOUT THE AIMS PROJECT:
AIMS is an innovative mental health cooking project. We work with people
to improve their lives and wellness through hands-on work with healthy
food, opportunities for meaningful work and social rehabilitation in
kitchen and farm/garden and community settings, connections with
information and resources for healthier living, and advocating for food
justice and access to healthy food for the Tenderloin community.
Our AIMS:
1-Cooking that serves our community and builds community: Peers feeding
our Tenderloin community delicious, healthy food. Introducing exciting
new tastes, recipes, ingredients, and experiences through our
activities. Good food is healing and inspiring; it brings us together -
decreasing isolation.
2-Sharing experience: Peers sharing cooking skills, recipes, nutrition
basics, and life experiences to support wellness of self and others:
physical and mental health. Connecting people with local resources and
information for free to low-cost nutritious food.
3-Advocating for food justice: Peers working for greater access to
healthy, fresh, affordable ingredients in the TL. We work for healthy
corner stores and community gardens. Nourishing food is our right.
