St Matthew Church and School of San Mateo

St. Matthew Parish within the Archdiocese of San Francisco, and the Catholic Church, has gathered the people of San Mateo in worship and in service since 1863.

Our Parish programs help deepen spiritual lives, instill Christian values and offer compassionate support for those in need.

Through our strong Catholic grammar school and catechetical program, we provide a deep and lasting foundation in Christ.

We strive to grow in love of God and our neighbor and devote ourselves to following Christ’s path.

St. Matthew Catholic Church offers many prayer and worship opportunities to express our Catholic faith. All are welcome, here, as we embrace and celebrate our diverse community by honoring unique cultural traditions that nourish us as Catholics.

St. Matthew Catholic School is an active ministry of St. Matthew Parish. We serve to impart and promote our Catholic faith to future generations. Parents, as primary educators, work in positive partnership with the parish and school, to create a faith community that inspires its members to live as Jesus did. We nurture each child's unique gifts and facilitate academic growth and faith formation of the whole person. By integrating faith, knowledge, and community, St. Matthew students will become a person with strong character, an effective communicator, an active Christian, a responsible citizen, and a life-long learner.
