To promote the health and wellbeing of the worlds torture survivors
THRIVE Center for Survivors of Torture (formerly named Utah Health and Human Rights or UHHR) was founded in 2003, in response to a limited understanding among medical service providers about the needs of torture survivors in Utah — specifically, how to recognize, assess, and care for survivors of torture within refugee, immigrant, and asylum-seeker communities. THRIVE’s innovative, evidence-based, and holistic services promote health, dignity, and self-sufficiency, and are guided by profound respect for the dignity and resiliency of our clients. Our services are driven by our clients’ needs and include individual and group therapy, psychiatry clinics, intensive case management, medical advocacy, mind body skills groups, wellness groups, art therapy, wilderness experiences, massage, occupational therapy, and wrap-around services for asylum seekers.
