The Organization: Founded in 1964, the Cantata Singers is widely regarded as Boston?s finest choral ensemble and one of the region?s premier musical organizations. Under the direction of David Hoose, the Cantata Singers is dedicated to challenging performances of works from the 17th century to the present, including the commissioning of new works. Winner of the 1995 ASCAP/Chorus America Award for Adventurous Programming of Contemporary Music, the 44-member Cantata Singers chorus presents an annual subscription series of eight concerts with its chamber orchestra in New England Conservatory?s Jordan Hall in Boston, as well as a chamber series under the direction of pianist Kayo Iwama. In addition to concert activities, the Cantata Singers sponsors a composition and performance program called ?Classroom Cantatas? in the Bosto
