University of California, Berkeley's Goldman School of Public Policy

  • Sobre Nós

Embracing the realms of both domestic and international policy, the Goldman School of Public Policy (GSPP) prepares students for careers in policy analysis, program evaluation, political leadership and management, and planning. GSPP graduates enjoy an outstanding rate of employment and career advancement, working in government, in the private and nonprofit sectors, in research organizations, and as consultants worldwide.

The majority of the students at GSPP are enrolled in the Master of Public Policy (MPP) program, which emphasizes the applied and quantitative dimensions of policy making. The MPP may also be earned concurrently with degrees from several other UC Berkeley schools: law, public health, engineering, social welfare, global studies and the Energy Resources Group. GSPP currently offers four programs: 1) the Master of Public Policy (MPP) program, with a core curriculum emphasizing practical and applied dimensions of policymaking 2) the Master of Development Practice (MDP) program, which offers a multidisciplinary, constructivist, skills based approach to tackling challenges in the rapidly evolving global development landscape 3) a one-year Master of Public Affairs (MPA) for mid-career professionals 4) and a Ph.D. in Public Policy program for a small number of students, who seek careers in academia and research. While the Goldman School does not offer a bachelors-level degree, the public policy minor is available to undergraduates enrolled at UC Berkeley.

Goldman School faculty represent the top researchers in their respective fields, which include economics, political science, law, social psychology and engineering. Their expertise ranges from education policy to racial profiling to clean energy. As teachers, they are dedicated to training tomorrow's policy leaders. As researchers, their work is shaping public policy today.
