The Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Team (APAIT) affects the quality of life for Asian and Paciifc Islanders living with or at-risk for HIV/AIDS by providing a continuum of prevention, health and social services, community leadership and advocacy to the Southern California region. APAIT, as a project of Special Service for Groups, is one of the nation's largest providers of HIV/AIDS prevention and care services for the Asian and Pacific Islander communities. Based in Southern California, APAIT has been providing culturally and linguistically appropriate services to API's since 1987.
The Orange County office of APAIT has been operating since 1999, and offers free education on the prevention of HIV/AIDS, emphasizing behavior change, empowerment, and informed decision-making. Health Educators (both staff and volunteer) conduct culturally appropriate and sensitive outreaches in various community venues, including clubs, health fairs, bars, and schools.
