Our mission is to empower low-and moderate-income people by creating living-wage employment opportunities and access to career paths. We seek to develop programs that counter prevailing market inequalities (especially those based on race or gender) and contribute to a broader movement for economic justice.
Brooklyn Woods achieves this mission in two ways:
1. Woodworking training program- Free full-time training program that introduces the proper use of tools and machinery through the techniques of cabinetmaking and woodworking with the purpose of preparing people for entry-level jobs working with their hands.
2. Social venture business- hires program graduates to produce kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities from sustainable materials for housing developments in New York City.
