Eye Care For Detroit

We at Eye Care For Detroit, Inc. are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive eye care services to the homebound community in Detroit, Michigan. Our primary mission is to reach and serve 40,000 homebound patients who face challenges accessing traditional eye care facilities. We are committed to closing the access to eye care gaps based on the findings of the Vision Detroit Project, 2022 Goyal, et.al, which highlighted significant disparities in eye care accessibility within our community.

As a 501(c)(3) entity, we operate on a tax-exempt basis, allowing us to maximize our resources for charitable purposes and attract donations and grants to support our mission.

We offer a range of services tailored to meet the unique needs of homebound individuals:

1. In-home eye care services: Our trained professionals visit patients' homes to conduct eye examinations and provide necessary treatments.
2. Transportation assistance: For patients who can travel but face mobility challenges, we help arrange transportation to eye care appointments.
3. Mobile-clinic services: Our fully equipped mobile clinics bring eye care directly to neighborhoods, serving those who can leave their homes but cannot travel far.
4. Eyeglass prescription fulfillment: We ensure that patients receive their prescribed eyewear, delivering glasses directly to their homes.
5. Referral development: We work to build a network of eye care specialists and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care for patients with complex needs.
