Global Vitiligo Foundation

  • Sobre Nós

The mission of the Global Vitiligo Foundation (GVF) is to improve the quality of life for individuals with vitiligo through education, research, clinical care, and community support. Founded in 2016 by a group of doctors, GVF is a young organization with big aspirations to help people with this autoimmune skin disease that causes depigmentation.

Vitiligo affects nearly 1% of the population, including both genders and all races and ethnicities. About half of those with vitiligo develop it before age 20. The precise cause is not well understood, but is believed to be a combination of genetic and environmental factors. There is currently no cure, but more worldwide research is being conducted than ever before and treatment options are improving.

GVF focuses its efforts on awareness, education and support, with the aim of helping people live well with vitiligo. It has a Medical Advisory Board that includes some of the top vitiligo experts from around the world.
