The Fairbanks Climate Action Coalition (FCAC) is a grassroots organization rooted in the Fairbanks community that is focused on building an Alaskan movement for climate justice and just transition. The Coalition is powered predominantly by volunteers, supported by staff, and fiscally sponsored by a nonprofit organization, Native Movement. We aim to organize in line with our values by following the Jemez Principles as well as decolonization and just transition frameworks. Staff hours support coordination of volunteers, facilitate strategy sessions, community trainings, statewide organizing support, as well as administration of media, website, and grants. Our coalition structure was developed through several community visioning sessions and continues to evolve with feedback from the community and needs. FCAC has five active working groups engaging different aspects of climate solutions.
