The Service Employees International Union Local 32BJ, is the nation's largest building service worker’s union, representing more than 125,000 cleaners, doormen, porters, maintenance workers, window cleaners, security officers, superintendents, and theater and stadium workers.
Local 32BJ is affiliated with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), a union that is 1.8 million members strong and growing. It devotes almost half of its budget to organizing – far more than most unions.
In the past five years, Local 32BJ has organized more than 10,000 new members in the tri-state region, raising standards throughout the building service industry. As a result, these workers are now receiving livable wages and improved benefits.
