INTRODUCTION to MACC Development
 MACC Development is a faith-based, place-based, resident community development corporation working in the heart of lower-east side Detroit’s 48214 community. MACC Development was founded by members of Mack Avenue Community Church, which is made up almost entirely of residents on Detroit’s east side. Since 2010, MACC Development has sought to respond to the ideas and needs of the community. Through a series of dynamic community outreach strategies, three particular focus areas became central to the organization’s strategic approach: Youth and Education / Housing and Blight / Economic Development. Consequently, all of MACC Development’s strategic efforts can be sourced to those three focus areas. In just a few short years, the organization has renovated multiple houses, established an award-winning literacy program, organized a series of alternative youth sports opportunities, provided legal counsel to more than more than one hundred neighborhood clients, formed the makings of a coffee-laundry small business, and coordinated the planning of a neighborhood-based business corridor plan for Mack Avenue.
