Avesta Housing

Avesta Housing is a nonprofit affordable housing provider with 45+ years of experience as a leader in affordable housing development and property management in southern Maine and New Hampshire. We are headquartered in Portland, Maine and currently have 87 properties, more than 2,400 apartments, and two assisted-living facilities in our portfolio.

We know that our mission is only as strong as the people behind it. And that’s why we hire the best and we give them the tools they need to thrive. Our staff is passionate about affordable housing and the positive impact it has on lives and communities.

As a nonprofit organization, we care deeply about people – those who urgently need safe, affordable housing and those living in the homes we develop and manage. We have a diverse team that values our culture of comradery. Our staff-run Social Wellness Activity Group hosts social outings and events throughout the year, including potlucks, a staff softball game, family activities, a running/walking club, a summer outing, a winter reception, and much more!
