  • Sobre Nós

Women's Global Education Project (WGEP) believes that universal education, gender equality and empowerment of women are critical to a society's development. Our mission is to provide access to education and to develop training programs that empower women and girls to build better lives and foster equitable communities.

Women's Global Education Project works in both Kenya and Senegal, implementing programs through strong partnerships with local in-country organizations to ensure that our work is community-driven, sustainable and appropriate to the actual needs of the target communities. WGEP seeks to address the root causes of poverty such as the lack of education, limited opportunities for women and girls, and insufficient resources for local community organizations.

WGEP's flagship Sisters-to-School Program provides both full and partial primary and secondary school scholarships, along with health education to the most marginalized girls to get, and keep them in school. WGEP also offers after school "Molding Clubs" to both boys and girls, adult literacy classes, and grassroots community awareness programs to build support for girls' education in the areas where we work.

Since its inception in 2003, WGEP has awarded over 1,000 full and partial scholarships to girls in rural Senegal and Kenya, and has reached more than 10,000 individuals through grassroots community outreach programs.
