Association for the Well being of Women and the Families of the Rural Areas

The Association for the well being of women and the families of the rural areas AFFAMIR in short) aims at contribuiting to the fight against the structural causes of poverty in Penka Michel municipality, Western Cameroon, through women's promotion and support to the education sector of the municipality. The capacity building services to women and their organizations includes financial (micro productive credit) non financial services (training, access to information) and technical services for agriculture (extension services for agric technics, means of production,etc..

Concerning the support to education sector, AFFAMIR does it in two ways: training packages to teachers of the schools of the municipality for improving the quality of education; creation of nursery and primary schools in areas where the coverage is insufficient.

As much as possible, AFFAMIR does not create new organizations but works with existing ones and stimulate collaboration among them as well as with other structures (cooperative of credit and savings, agric extension office, etc.) that are present in the local environment of Penka Michel. The final objective of this support is to enable the supported organizations to positively impact the living conditions of women and the families, and contribute to the societal change process that will lead to gender equity and unlashing capabilities of people, its institutions and the entire community.
