Minds Matter of NYC

Minds Matter’s mission is to transform the lives of accomplished high school students from low-income families by broadening their dreams and preparing them for college success. Minds Matter was founded on the premise that volunteers could be mobilized to provide talented high school students with the resources and guidance needed to achieve academic excellence. Our volunteers are dedicated young professionals who provide academic support and critical guidance through the college application process -- resources that most of our students otherwise lack.

Our three year program offers students a combination of individualized mentoring support and group instruction, providing students with the support and guidance that they need to gain admission to, enroll in and succeed at four-year colleges. Each student is partnered with two mentors and receives intensive SAT/ACT test preparation as well as math and writing instruction. Minds Matter students also attend top-tier summer programs and participate in leadership development activities. For more than 25 years, 100% of Minds Matter graduates have been accepted to a 4-year college.
