Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinical Program

  • Sobre Nós

For thirty years, the HIRC Program (in partnership with Greater Boston Legal Services) has focused on direct representation of noncitizens applying for U.S. asylum and related relief, as well as providing representation in cases involving protection of domestic violence and crime survivors and avoidance of forced removal in immigration proceedings. The HIRC Program is active in appellate and policy advocacy on local, national, and international levels.

Harvard’s immigration and refugee clinic is a leader in its field. HIRC’s program director Deborah Anker and managing attorneys John Willshire-Carrera and Nancy Kelly are nationally and internationally known teachers, practitioners, and scholars who have published widely. They have received major awards from local and national bar associations, including the most prestigious award of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the Founders Award, for path-breaking work on behalf of women refugees. In the HIRC program, students have an opportunity to learn from their expertise.
